A Decade As a Photojournalist Shaped My Photographic Style

A professional photographer poses in the sun for her own portrait.

Working as a photojournalist for a newspaper is like being in photography boot camp - you learn how to handle the most difficult lighting scenarios and shoot in all weather - yes, sometimes even in the rain.  That daily unpredictability made me flexible and ready for anything, and the profession sharpened my ability to recognize and capture what really matters.

Photojournalism is traditionally unbiased, but when untethered from a news organization, it can become a powerful storytelling tool with a point of view.

Today, I want to help businesses, organizations, and individuals shine by offering elevated candid photography that embodies the spirit of their events and, more importantly, shows people enjoying them.

My business clients walk away with images they can use to enhance their messaging through traditional print and social media, and my individual clients enjoy album-worthy, can’t-wait-to-share memories.
