APPROACH

There are certain types of images I tend to look for at an event.  Individually, they can stand on their own, but collectively they work together to tell a story.  By shooting this way, clients receive images that cohesively capture the spirit of the event, but are also separable to address specific needs such as print media, public relations, social media and internal publications.

BRANDING

Visually layering information, interaction, and a logo is a good way to reinforce a brand while still providing consumable, useful content. With careful composition and a good moment, the organization is represented in the image while still giving the viewer something enjoyable.

ENGAGEMENT

The core of any event is the way the attendees interact, either with each other or with the programming. It’s important to isolate moments that show people enjoying themselves or benefiting from the experience.

SCALE

Having a visual sense of how many people attend an event is effective for marketing and a useful barometer for future success.

EXPRESSION

Facial expressions, body language, and gestures are the difference between a passive, ignorable “talking head” and something a little more charismatic.

DETAILS

Relevant details add depth and texture to the story of an event and provide visual variety for layouts.

SCENE SETTING

When viewers can see what the space is like, they can imagine themselves there.

EMOTION

Anticipating emotional moments comes with experience. These kinds of images provide a window to the tone of the event and often are the most relatable and engaging for viewers.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Images like these give viewers a glimpse into the invisible world of effort that is behind their experiences. The surprise is memorable, creates a positive impression, and humanizes the organization in a new way.

“We have had the pleasure of working with Heather on several events and have always been impressed with how she gets to know our clients and creates a story with every photograph. Her attention to detail makes every event special, and she treats every person in front of the camera like they are the only one that matters.  She is a wonderful photographer and a fantastic person to work with during events.”
